Over the weekend, I spent time with some friends who are a little younger than me. As we chatted, the conversation turned to perimenopausal symptoms and their experiences with HRT. It made me pause and reflect. At 50, I consider myself quite fortunate, so far, my symptoms have been minimal.
But it got me thinking…
- Is that just luck?
- Is there more to come?
- Or is my lifestyle genuinely supporting me through the peri-to-postmenopausal years?
These questions sparked an idea: what if I started keeping a diary? A way to document what I’m experiencing, what’s working for me, and what I’m learning along the way. It might help me, and perhaps it could help you too, especially if you’re looking for ways to support your own health during this phase of life.
One of the biggest things for me is mindset. I often see people focus on what might be a symptom of menopause and feel overwhelmed or defeated by it. Instead, I try to flip the narrative: “What can I do to improve this?” That simple reframe feels empowering. It puts me in the driver’s seat, rather than stuck in a cycle of negative thinking.
Take mouth ulcers, for example, something I’ve dealt with most of my life. Lately, they seem to flare up more often, and I’ve noticed a definite pattern linked to my cycle. While it could be hormonal, I believe a balanced, nutritious diet can help. Rather than dwell on the discomfort, I choose to explore how I can better support my body. My diet is generally healthy, but taking these wholefood capsules on a daily basis, has made a significant decrease in the amount of ulcers I’ve a had. Speak to Chloe if you want to find out more.
This chapter of life doesn’t have to feel like a decline. With the right mindset, movement, nourishment, and self-awareness, it can be a time of growth, strength, and new understanding.
I’ll be sharing more of my journey in the weeks to come, honest reflections, practical tips, and personal insights. If you’re on a similar path, I’d love to walk alongside you.
