Have I managed to add a bit more simplicity into my life?

This is an update from a previous blog, so I would suggest reading that first before continuing with this one.

So how have I done?

It’s now been just over a month since we returned from our holiday. Have I managed to adopt a simpler life?

I guess the short answer is no, but with both my teenage children now back at school, there is more of a routine in the week, so I think it will be easier to achieve going forward.

A slight health issue in the family has required a different way of eating, but I know I need to plan better to reduce our waste.

Taking a break from the norm has been a little bit easier. We enjoyed a lovely day in Hythe and then ventured onto Dungeness for the evening on my son’s birthday (his choice). There was no real plan to the day and we all enjoyed:

  • attending a food festival
  • a swim in the sea, actually only person enjoyed that, the rest of us watched
  • eating a Colin the Caterpillar cake
  • a few games of Uno
  • walking and talking
  • star (and satellite) gazing

I also took my son and one of his friends to Biggin Hill Airport for a bit of plane spotting. Not my usual way to spend an afternoon, but I took a book to read and a notebook for writing down ideas and inspiration. Amazingly, I also quite enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters flying in and out.

Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!

Steps have definitely been taken in right direction, but there is more work to do and that’s just fine.

Progress not perfection!
