Four steps to improving your menopause symptoms.

I saw a great quote on the back of my Simple Things magazine recently:

Focus on the step, not the staircase

I think this is true of the peri-post menopausal period, it can be a daunting prospect of what may lie ahead of you with regards to symptoms, but I am always of the belief to focus on what you CAN do.

  • Sleep – getting into the habit of a good nighttime routine to help you wind down.
  • Exercise – incorporate balance and dual tasking into your workouts. Most importantly listen to your body, you can’t expect to be doing the same workout you did in your 20s and still be getting the same results.
  • Nutrition – including broccoli, carrots, and legumes into your diet as these are good sources of phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens mimic your body’s own estrogen.
  • Self-care – during these tricky mid-life years, it is more important than ever to prioritise your own physical and mental health. This doesn’t have to mean spa trips (although it can), but just taking a few minutes here and there to recharge, for example, reading a book, enjoying a cup of tea, or spending some time meditating.

Fairly simple steps, but if practiced regularly could lead to huge benefits to your health and wellbeing.
